Lonely Mia teaches art in Navajo country. Kevin and Russ are wood-fire potters. Their passion for Mia and each other flares as hot as their kilns. But can they mold their lives together in the face of bitter judgments?

Mia loved the solitude, the emptiness and quiet of Navajo country, but her loneliness made her feel as if her heart was encased in ice. She could feel her art becoming sterile. Her desire still burned bright, though, the desire for men to love and a life of meaning, full of passion and art.

Kevin and Russ brought kilns for her school art studio. Friendship, and then sexual passion bloomed between them, as unexpected and beautiful as desert flowers after the rain, and as fragile. Russ is strong and quiet as the mountains, and the big wood-fired Noborigama kilns respond to his touch as a master. Beautiful and wild, Kevin is an artist for the ages. With Russ’s fire and Mia’s intuitive understanding of the sensuous beauty of the human body, their art begins to make joyous leaps, their passion turns to love, and the eyes of the world begin to turn their way.

The world has expectations, rules, laws. What’s right? What’s immoral? The cost of turning your back on society can be harsh. The eyes watching them are cold and bitter and judgmental. Mia and Russ and Kevin find themselves under attack from all sides, and can they save the life they’ve built?
